CBS La Rochepot chooses efficient dust control with Spraystream
Dust is a daily challenge in quarries. During loading, crushing and material handling, large amounts of dust are generated, affecting working conditions, equipment and the surrounding environment. To address this challenge, CBS La Rochepot (Eqiom) in France selected an integrated dust suppression solution from Spraystream, implemented in cooperation with our French dealer, Natural-Tech.
Controlling dust at the source
At CBS La Rochepot, dust was generated throughout the entire production process, from primary to tertiary crushing. Significant dust emissions were observed around the hoppers, crushers and transfer points.
Following an on-site analysis and a series of technical tests, Spraystream developed a solution that tackles dust directly at the source. By capturing dust particles at the moment they are generated, they are prevented from spreading throughout the site.
Combination of Jetzone injectors and fixed misting lines
For this project, a combination of Jetzone injectors and fixed misting lines was selected.
The Jetzone injectors were installed on the hopper and directly inside the crushers. Ultra-fine water droplets are injected into the crushing chamber exactly where the dust is generated. The droplets are optimised to bind with airborne dust particles, making them heavier so they settle before they can disperse.
In addition, fixed misting lines were installed at the crusher outlets and at several transfer points. This ensures that dust released during the subsequent handling of the material is also effectively controlled. Thanks to the high-pressure technology, extremely fine droplets are produced, providing efficient dust capture while keeping water consumption to a minimum.
Fully integrated into the production process
The Spraystream solution was fully integrated into the quarry's existing SCADA system. As a result, the dust suppression system operates automatically alongside the production process and is activated only when required.
The installation is controlled by a central technical unit with multiple circuits, each dedicated to a specific dust source within the quarry. This allows every zone to be managed independently for maximum efficiency.
Visible results
The impact of the installation is immediately noticeable. Areas where dust clouds previously formed around the crushers and transfer points are now kept largely under control.
By combining source dust suppression with additional misting at critical locations, dust emissions throughout the production process have been significantly reduced. The result is a cleaner installation, improved working conditions and more effective dust control across the entire site.
